The presence of a cake is always a sign of abundance.
It can be associated to a ritual, a religious or a joyful event.
Some confectioneries are deeply rooted in our memories and
remind us of some good moments of our childhood.
More than any other type of food a cake is a symbol of sweetness and refinement.
It is associated with the pleasure of giving and being with loved ones.

The Castel...

A very old saying - dating back to the Middle Age- promises happiness and prosperity for the rest of the year to anyone who would keep this cake on him.

During the culinary contest, Léon, being a bit superstitious, remembered the old saying and made a wish. The wish came true.
Since 1912, the Castel is perpetuating this custom.
One century later this custom keeps its mystery, for how long still?

The recipe of this travel cake has not been lost.
It was preciously transmitted from generation to generation.
